The Kingfisher Restaurant & Takeaway underwent a major new re-brand in 2009 which involved a whole new re-furbishment of the restaurant, new menus, exterior signage and website.
The new restaurant has a fresh, contemporary feel, while at the same time retaining some of its lovely original features such as the beams and of course, the beautiful stained glass window with the trademark Kingfisher.
Says Kingfisher owner, John Hutchinson: "The decision to re-furbish the restaurant was not taken lightly as many of our customers are not only regulars, but have been coming to us for many years, but judging from the very positive feedback we have been getting, it was definitely the right thing to do."

The Kingfisher team were delighted to have qualified for this prestigious award which was set up by the Seafish Authority to raise the standards within our industry.
To qualify we had to undergo a thorough inspection by a Seafish Approved Inspector who assessed us on our image, shop design, standards of hygiene, staff training, equipment, frying competence, sales skills and, most importantly, the quality of the cooked product.
Jim Hyam of Seafish's Training and Accreditation Team said Displaying the Seafish Fish Friers Quality Award shows customers that the shop is one of the best fish frying businesses in the country and not only that, our research shows that by providing a quality product, businesses can guarantee that customers
will return.
In order to retain the award we will be assessed on an annual basis so you can guarantee that we will be working as hard as ever to maintain our standards!
John and Brenda Hutchinson took over the running of the already highly successful and renowned Kingfisher Restaurant & Takeaway in 1994 and have continued to build on that success along with their team of dedicated and loyal staff, many of whom precede John and Brenda!
Manager and Head Fryer, David joined in 1998 and he is competently aided and abetted by Deputy Manager Chris who was a fully qualified Head Chef for 20 years prior to joining Kingfisher in 2001. Head Waitress, Lisa, has been with Kingfisher since 1993 and our most senior member of staff, Christine, has been with us since 1985, that's over 25 years! How's that for dedication?
Our restaurant seats up to 66 people, which makes us a great venue for coach parties.
